We live in an amazing nation founded on sound principles of republican democracy and separation of powers. As the nation has aged, those principles have served the nation well. Elected representatives have generally come and gone through both houses and the three branches of government each served to check the other. Somehow in the last century we the people have allowed the Constitution to be subverted by those we elect to represent us at all levels of government.
Tonight on Hannity, Sarah Palin spoke about her editorial today concerning the case for impeachment against President Obama. The founding fathers and mothers of this country provided for a means to remove a president from office when facts and circumstances warrant.
The case for impeachment has nothing to do with race or his politics. It has everything to do with the actions and inactions of President Obama. The chief job of the Office of the President is to ENFORCE the LAW and defend the country. Those are the primary responsibilities laid out in Article I of the Constitution and those are the very things he has consistently failed to do since taking the oath of office
The President does not have a line item veto does NOT exist for the President of the United States and yet, he has repeatedly altered the law to suit his political base regardless of what the actual law requires. (Suspending portions of Affordable Care Act , the Fast and Furious scandal, and unilateral implementation of environmental regulations without impute from Congress.)
The President is charged with the national defense and we all know that he has clearly failed to protect the nation. He has failed to protect the southern border, in fact his inactions have allowed for the recent influx of illegal immigrants. He failed to protect our embassy in Libya and his whereabouts are still unknown when four brave Americans died in a terrorist act. He also allowed for the negotiation with terrorists for the release of a known deserter on the field of battle and the subsequent release of five known terrorists for said deserter. These are not the actions of a President who oversees the national defense.
I know that all political parties in this country lack the nerve or social responsibility to carry through with their Constitutional duty to impeach the President. There is ample cause to impeach the current sitting President of the United States. Thus the country is going to continue to be torn apart by political squabbling on all sides and the divides are only going to grow wider and more divisive.
We are faced with the very thing our founding fathers and mothers were so fearful of, an Imperial President and an apathetic electorate.
