This is very easy for me, there are two:
In college I took “The Bible as Literature” and the course was awful. I couldn’t drop it unfortunately and was forced to suffer a semester filled with awful “literature” and an even worse “professor”.
I’m not sure if I hate these books because of where and how they were first introduced to me, but their authors are forever tainted in my eyes. I know that both women have loyal fans and there are always rave reviews for their works. For me, they write like crap, can’t spin a good story, and fail to engage me in any way.
Yes I know there is a difference between my mind and tastes 20 years from that undergraduate experience but the negative imprint these authors have in my brain isn’t going to change. And let’s be honest, there are WAY to many books and authors I want to read and discover that going back to force myself to give these authors another chance.
