It’s quiet here, DH is still asleep and the flock is passed out and snoring as well. Tonight we are going out to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory here in Phoenix. First time I’ve eaten at one outside of Southern California but it is a childhood taste and memory of good times and food. Hopefully, the food and service has improved in the time frame since my parents were there last here in Phoenix, almost a decade so I’m hopeful. I can almost taste my lovely plate of lasagna I will be ordering in less than twelve hours and I am more than looking forward to my lovely scoop of Spumoni ice cream after dinner!
I did a lot of work on the cookbook this week. It is much tougher writing than the proverbial “great American novel” is surprisingly. Organization and flow of a cookbook so that it has the potential to stand out amongst the thousands of other cookbooks isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I think I found it though and submitted the idea to Mom for review this week. I’ll talk to her about it tonight over dinner.
So I took the plunge this week and downloaded the Consumer Preview of Windows 8. Let’s just say it isn’t ready for widespread release to the public. It is clunky, lacks any kind of customization, desktop is cluttered, and there are serious flaws in the entire concept of removal of the start key. I like my personalized desktops free of clutter and the ability to make my desktop reflect my mood or the season. Win8 completely lacks that ability and it is the ultimate reason I will not upgrade to Win8 until fixed. I won’t go so far as to switch over to Apple products, but I will use a different operating system if it comes to it.
DH found out about his new position within the bank this week finally. It will be a complete challenge for him but it will also be extremely good for him. He needs a challenge and the push to learn new things. It also has the potential for long-term growth within the bank. He needs that and he needs to spread his tech wings so that he isn’t perceived as a one-trick pony. Brilliant he may be, but if all you are perceived as is brilliant at one small portion of technology, eventually you stagnant and become irrelevant. So I am excited for him even if he isn’t excited yet.
I picked up some therapeutic gloves and a needle threader yesterday. I am excited about stitching again. I still need a better light with a magnifier, but I plan on stitching at some point this weekend. Hopefully it will go well and I can restart Mom’s two requested stitching projects and get them out quickly.
I’m going to grab a cup of coffee and wake up Pickles. He’d probably really like a treat for breakfast some maybe I’ll make him a PB&J sandwich for breakfast. That should keep him entertained for a while.
